Chinese dietetics is based on special descriptions of the effects of foods. In addition to the descriptions of the active ingredient content known in the West, such as vitamins, calories, glycaemic index, etc., vegetative effects of foods are described in a special technical terminology. For example, the so-called “flavours” are rated as descriptions of vegetative effects. Dietetics is particularly valuable because by this the doctor can give the patient his/her own “tool” for recovery.
